i just thought you might like to know that foil man might be back in town. i noticed that he must have called in for a refill on his meds because his name is in the will call bins. it's been there all week and i'm secretly eager to see what kind of havoc he wreaks this time. our cashier has never met him and i sort of want to see her reaction. i can't remember if i told you that we heard that "crazy eye dave" died a few months ago, so it is likely that foil man will be working alone this time. i bet he can't carry $140 worth of merchandise himself.
and now, a story about beets. the pharmacist walks up to me yesterday and says "is it lunch time yet melis?" i told him that it was a little early, maybe it was snack time. he replied "oh yea? what did you bring?" i considered it for a moment and told him "beets!". "beets? beets?" he said with disgust, "that isn't a snack and why the hell are you eating beets? they have zero, zero nutritional value!". i started exclaiming loudly about beets and their greatness and began polling the rest of my coworkers. most of them were completely disgusted by the idea of beets. our pharmacy student was brave and offered to try one of mine, saying that she had never eaten a beet before. she took one and popped it into her mouth. she chewed it and then made this horrible face and ran to spit it out. i was yelling "oh man! i've wasted a beet on you!" after she recovered the pharmacist said to her "so you tried one huh? didn't like it? i'm not suprised, beets are some bad shit." i don't know why that sent me into a fit of laughter (possibly because calling beets "bad shit" is hilarious) but it did and i kept giggling about it while looking up beets on wikipedia. i often google things while my coworkers are busy arguing or wondering the answer. so now the pharmacist asks me to google everything he has a question about.....his sister's medical conditions, directions to places, the name of the restaurant where he had dinner the night before (because he can't remember), beets, etc. it's good times.
i should totally be getting ready for work now. but i'm writing you stories and i hold you fully responsible if i'm late for work (again). a customer called up and asked the cashier if she could order her a donut cushion........you know those round ones with the hole cut out for people with i don't know tailbone issues? so we find out the price and all that jazz and order her one. the next day it came in and a coworker called her up to tell her. so she's on the phone and this little old lady is asking 9432532 questions. she wanted to know how big the cushion was. one of the technicians is now holding the box and reading off the info to the cashier who is relaying it to this lady.
cashier: "how big is it?"
tech: "big enough to fit in a chair?"
cashier: "how big of a chair?"
tech: "a normal sized chair"
lady asks some moe questions.
tech, snickering: "ask her how big her butt is"
cashier: "well how big is your butt?" pause. "yes, i said how big is your butt?" pause. "is your butt big?" "oh ok, it's normal sized. good."
i looked at the tech when the phone call was all over and said "you didn't actually intend for her to ask that lady how big her butt was, did you?"
the tech started laughing and said "no!". ahahahahahahaha. the cashier turned red and busted out laughing. i can't believe that she asked that lady how big her butt was! she was so embarresed. it was fabulous. thankfully it was the little old lady who is like 80 or something and doesn't care at all. she's the lady who calls up and asks for her "vicodeeens".
i'm about to be tragically late for work if i don't get ready RIGHT NOW.
