wouldn't you know it i bought a new mouse today at target and upon returning from the store i discover that the old one has 100% ceased to function. good timing. i plugged in the new one and it works like a charm but it's just not the same. this is a standard $10 mouse but it does have the wheel on it so that's good. however, i really really miss the four button mouse with which i could scroll back and forth between pages with ease......SIGH. i hear those babies cost big bucks and i didn't even see one at the store. ah well.
story from a church function last night:
7 year old goes up to the snack table and picks up a mostly full gallon jug of cider. i watch her quite impressed as she fills up her cup and spills not a drop. i know at 7 my mother wouldn't have let me anywhere near a jug of juice by myself. of course i was a klutzy kid and i also didn't come from a family of 9 children. i guess you learn to fend for yourself when you've got 8 siblings. during the middle of our pastor talking in front of the crowd this girl's younger brother, age 4, goes up to the table. he too takes the cider. i watch in amazement as he pours himself a cup seemingly without incident. he has his eyes glued to that cup and his hand is steady until about halfway through when his 4 year old pal runs by distracting him. i watched him continue to pour as he looked up at his friend getting a cookie. i thought to myself "eyes on the prize buddy! eyes on the prize!" but to no avail. he never looked back down until he had overfilled his cup and the cider was cascading down onto the floor. our pastor casually walked over and cleaned up the spill all the while continuing his presentation. the young lad, quite satisfied with his cup of cider, returned to his seat without missing a beat.
my other story is that wesley, who is almost 2 now, was standing over by the aforementioned snack table. he was trying to get someone, anyone's attention so that they would get him some juice. i saw him glance around and notice me entering the room and a look flashed across his face that said "perfect, she'll help me!". he yelled from across the room "melidi! juice!" and he pointed wildly at the table. ha! that kid has me wrapped around his finger and he knows it.
and now for the love of all things holy i WILL go clean my stinkin' room. gosh.
