stories.

it is so freaking cold. -4 this morning i think was the verdict. yesterday i actually wore my polar fleece hat/gloves/scarf UNDERNEATH my knitted hat/gloves/scarf to the bus stop because it was so cold. although grrr today i'm going to have to wear my jacket that keeps me less warm because last night my jacket was the victim of an unfortunate butter incident. i mixed up the wet ingredients for cookies and the dry ingredients and put them in seperate bowls so that i could get and egg and more brown sugar at a friends house and finish them there (mind you i wrote myself a note to take along reminding myself of the measurements of these items that went like this: 1 egg, 3/4 cup B.S., 325 degrees, ~ 14 minutes. ahahahah BS. that's what i was cooking with). anyway in the midst of wearing two pairs of mittens, holding both bowls, and talking on my cell phone to frances, while retrieving the spare key to lex's car i managed to tilt the wet ingredient bowl and pour butter on my arm, alexis's desk, and her down jacket. and then after i finally made it to our friends' house i stuck the car key in my teeth for a moment and since it was below zero out the key STUCK TO MY TONGUE AND LIPS, just like on A Christmas Story. owowow.

both of my roommates have been home because of school cancelations, which is excellent because i only work monday and saturday this week. i'm supposed to walk the dogs but i called her to let her know that i don't want her doggies to turn into blocks of ice. and so no dog walking this week. i have a feeling this post is going to be extremely random. i found out that the combined weight of the dogs i walk is 280 lbs! no wonder those beasts frequently have the power to throw me into oncoming traffic. it takes all of my power to stop them, especially the bigger one, if he decides to chase squirrels. i've executed the "new water skier" position a few times to get control of him: feet planted firmly on the ground, butt out, both hands on the leash, leaning slightly backwards until he finally stops running. it's a sight to behold i'm sure. i bet the residents of that neighborhood love me. "oh look here comes that girl with the herd of elephants again. i wonder if she'll fall down and get dragged again?"

today i am home waiting for one of the landlord's many brothers to show up and finish replacing our living room ceiling tiles and paint the ceiling. i'll be calling ye ole landlord again today though (he probably cries when he sees my number show up on caller ID) because yet again there is a water spot on my ceiling. you know...right beside the other water spot from two weeks ago. something is leaking upstairs, or they are not watching how much water they slosh around in the bathroom and it needs to stop. granted it's not flooding my room, but something needs to be done. hmmm i just got off the phone with the landlord and his solution seems to be to change the ceiling tile. that doesn't make sense to me. perhaps we should change that tile AND find the source of the water? otherwise i'll keep calling you everytime this happens buddy. when is this lease up?? when?? (i don't know if i'm serious about moving or not, but good grief, i feel like perhaps i should not have to make repeated phone calls about water). and nathan, i'm sorry, i feel your pain. at least our landlord does something about it....yours just duct tapes things.

Yes! I made the blog! My life is now complete. ;)

I'm so glad I could (indirectly) be part of a classic Too Tall moment.

I saw my landlady today amidst all the snow and she asked me for the shovel that's in our apartment so she could shovel off the sidewalk...and I went into the closet and the "shovel" she has bequeathed us is a shovel for ants. It's that tiny. I have to bend into a 90-degree angle to shovel a six-inch-wide path down the path. I could get more snow moved if I just borrowed one of your ceiling tiles to shovel...
