weekend update.

things have been a whirlwind of getting through crazy days at work in order to reach the weekend these past few weeks. two weekends ago i visited meadville and got to hang out with lots and lots of friends. it was a chaotic wonderful time of cooking meals together and catching up while seven children, ages four and under, ran amuck and amidst us. the picture below is jack wearing my infamous pink boots. i accidentally left the boots in ohio several snowy months ago and they proceeded to have many an adventure without me. we were reunited at mollie's house and jack proceeded to hop into them when no one was looking. my boots apparently are staring in a children's book. i'll share it with you when i get my hands on it.

ah sarah. when i lived with mollie and jeff she was just six months old (i think). i moved out when she was about 14 months old. she claims to remember when i lived in her house. i'm not sure that she does, but i sort of don't doubt it either. i love this kid. whenever i call the house mollie has to tell her "it's our friend melissa" in order to differentiate between myself and sarah's aunt melissa. once in awhile she beats her mother to the phone and we have a few minutes to chat before she is detected. i'd love to think that i influenced her sense of style during those months that i lived in their house. please note the awesome pink shoes that coordinate so well with her pink polka-dotted cardigan.



titus is just begging me to take him home and make him mine forever. so is slinky, but he was elusive for much of the weekend and i don't have a photo. poor slink. i don't think i have even one picture of him anywhere. at any rate one day i'm adopting both of them. i just love love that his tail is in motion in this picture.

the following weekend jared was here. i'll have to get him to upload the pictures, because i only have two on my camera from that weekend. we ate pancakes, and rode buses and the incline up to mount washington (seen in photo below, taken in 2006), and ate delicious noodles at lulu's. ok so neither of us ate noodles. whatever. alexis did though. it was a great but short visit. i'll admit that i was sobbing at the airport when he left. me? crying at the airport? sure i'm good for a few tears on many occassions, but outright sobbing, not so frequently. it gets more difficult every time one of us flys away. soon though i will fly to atlanta and i will see him again. and to add a touch more drama to all of this let me tell you that i had zero dollars when i took him to the airport. i realized this on the way and asked him if he'd give me a dollar to pay for parking before he left. in the midst of all of my emotions though i completely forgot about the dollar until i was blowing my nose in the bathroom before heading out to the parking lot. i didn't have my phone on me so calling him to somehow get a dollar bill through security was not going to help. i ended up searching the entire car only to find $.42, a dime of which i promptly dropped into an unreachable location under the seat of the car. so great here i am still trying to pull myself together and one of the remaining dimes is so sticky that i actually had to glue another penny to it just so i could hold them in my hands. gross. thankfully the airport accepted debit cards and double thakfully my bank account had exactly $1.02 in it at the time. this reminds me that i currently have two cents in the bank. i should fix that soon....but anyway i made it home safely and alexis colored me a picture that night to cheer me up.


alright it's 10pm, 40 below zero in my house, and i've got a to do list that will fill the remainder of my evening. my parents called unexpectedly today and informed me that they will come pick me up tomorrow after work. sunday i can ride back home with lisa. i'll get to see my family for the weekend! and monday after i work (because my boss is insane and is keeping the store open on a holiday) i will sew this apron to my heart's content.
