oh, i love the elderly

a few days ago at work the phone rings:
I answer: "hello pharmacy fabuloso. can i help you?"
woman on the phone: "yes. can you tell me what time it is?"
me: "ummm, it's 4:45?"
woman: "yes, yes it is 4:45 and you told me that my delivery would be here TODAY! i've been waiting around all day for it and your driver has not shown up yet!!!!"

i then proceeded to check the driver's delivery sheet and find out that he had not in fact taken it with him. you know why???? it's because she called in prescriptions that had no refills, thus causing us to have to fax her doctor and wait for authorization for more refills, which takes sometimes up to an entire week. ma'am? how about for starters don't speak to me like that on the phone. and then secondly if the bottle has clearly written on it "NO REFILLS" it is your responsibility to call the doctor, not ours. quite frankely i'm not even sure why we DO call the dr. i'd like to tell them, oh sorry, get back to us when you have your new prescription. then again i might be a little cold hearted.
