springtime! i've been out on the porch swing a few times in the last few days and it's as though i'm watching the neighborhood renew their resolutions for the year. yesterday was "everyone go running!" day. i saw at least 15 people run by while i was eating my dinner. today appeared to be "let's take the dog for a walk and teach him to obey too!" day. i swear at least four people walked by saying 'goood dog, good boy. noooo. nooo. NO!' or 'sit. siit. sit good boy. siiiit. Sit. SIT!' it was rather entertaining. also i've noted that the neighbors on both sides of us have gotten dogs over the winter. i occassionally hear the poker night guy's dog yelping next door.
i had some other news but i seem to have forgotten it. i'm very happy that my keyboard still works. i poured quite a bit of water on it the other day and uttered a few choice words while drying it off with my beach towel. i wanted to utter some words after visiting H & R Block the other day. my roommate went and had her taxes done a few weeks ago. she paid $55 to have federal, state, and local taxes filed. they wanted $198 from me! for the same thing! i asked the woman about the price difference and she had no answer for me. i ended up just filing my federal taxes alone for $100! way more than i budgeted and now i STILL have to track down the paperwork and do it myself. grrr. i plan on calling the corporate office and asking them why it was so much more. i was sooo upset.

one time i spilled (more like coughed) fruity pebbles and milk onto my keyboard. and it still worked. there were some pebbles glued into the cracks where i couldn't reach, though....
i employed the extremely high tech keyboard repairing technique of popping off a bunch of keys with a nail file and then drying out the spaces in between them with a keyboard. all the keys are back on and it seems to be working just fine. mmmm fruity pebbles. one of the summers i worked at camp every morning i had a bowl of fruity pebbles, some grapes, and a glass of orange juice. that was before i was allergic to milk and before orange juice set my stomach on fire when i drank it. ahh. those were the days.
and by "with a keyboard" i really meant "with a q-tip"
Depending on the number of W-2's you have, as well as the amount of deductions and contributions, coupled with other circumstances that affect your return, they have to charge more for the extra forms. You don't want to know how much H&R Block wanted to charge us (let's just say that it rhymed with "more hundred and feighty shmollers") Needless to say, John just went ahead and did them on Turbo Tax for about $90.
DON'T EVEN get me started on H&R Block. When I lived in Boston they charged me $250 dollars, and I still owed the govt. $69 after that. I'm all about the Turbotax now. Well, except maybe for this year when I did it for two states and that was a bit confoosling. At least we're all done! Something tells me that the government won't care about my nonexistent income anyway, even if I did royally mess up on line 23C.
