you can't be serious

this my friends is what happens when you live on the first floor of a big house and the girls who live on the third floor have plumbing issues and their toilet OVERFLOWS and keeps overflowing while they are NOT HOME. oh yes, it's been one of those days. again. i can hear Karen's voice ringing in my ears. she's saying something about getting renter's insurance you dumbass. but she didn't ever call me a dumbass, but she might now. i can't seem to find the pictures of the last time the neighbors flooded our house but i shall post them tomorrow. oh gosh. update: just called Karen and told her "today my house flooded again. tomorrow i'm buying renter's insurance". she enjoyed that thoroughly.

so yes, i'm in the kitchen baking cookies when i hear alexis yell WATER! waterwater WATER and hear pounding at the door. it's the 2nd floor guys telling us that they are being flooded out by the 3rd floor and that we should beware of the impending flood. meanwhile the 3rd floor girls are not home. i'm like ok we have to stop the water...the water that was the color of....well you know. (EWW SOME ALSO LANDED IN MY HAIR). so lex and i start moving furniture and grabbing buckets and ripping pictures off the walls. we get the flood somewhat under control and i realized that we've got to STOP THE WATER. i wasn't about to wait around for 45 minutes for his brother to show up. i grabbed a flashlight and was like lex i'm breaking into the 3rd floor apartment! i knocked on the 2nd floor door and surveyed the damage there and then told them my plan. we stealthily broke into the apartment and turned off the toilet which was RUNNING like mad all over the floor. oy. i called the landlord and left the most ridiculous message ever it went something to the effect of : WATER EVERYWHERE. THIRD FLOOR. NOT HOME. TOILET. ACK. HELP. p.s. this is melissa from the apartment on such and such street. he probably peed himself listening to that. i later informed him that i had broken into the apartment and turned off the water. i told him if that was a problem i was willing to deal with the consequences but i had to do it. his response was "i don't want to know". after my 4th or 5th conversation he upgraded that to "thanks for taking action and stopping the toilet. i still don't want to know. but thank you." so yes tomorrow looks like an entertaining day of waiting for stanley steamer to bring in huge obnoxious fans to dry out the carpets. and then eventually the landlord's brother will replace our ceiling. YAY.
